As an adult Outdoor Security monitor your primary responsibility is to maintain a safe and secure environment for students and staff. Your duties may include the following:
- Monitoring Outdoors: Your role involves supervising the outside building to keep students safe during outside classes. You will be in charge of approaching unknown visitors and making sure they have a background check before entering the building. You will be overseeing the safety of children going to the bathroom and coming back in a timely manner. Making sure that none of the exterior doors of the church are propped open at any time.
- Enforcing School Rules: You will enforce school policies and regulations related to behavior and other guidelines. This includes reminding students of the expectations, intervening in any inappropriate conduct, and reporting any rule violations to the appropriate school staff.
- Assisting with Student Movement: During arrival and dismissal times, you will help manage student movement, ensuring that students enter and exit the building safely. This may involve guiding students to designated areas, assisting with bus loading and unloading, and coordinating with other staff members to maintain order and safety.
- Monitoring Restricted Areas: You will keep an eye on restricted areas within the school building, such as staff rooms, offices, or areas that require special permission for access. Your role is to prevent unauthorized entry and maintain the security of these spaces.
- Responding to Incidents: In the event of an emergency or any security-related incident, you will promptly report the situation to the appropriate school authorities and follow established protocols. This includes ensuring student safety, evacuating the building if necessary, and providing assistance as directed by the school’s emergency response plan.
- Building Positive Relationships: Interacting with students, staff, and visitors in a friendly and supportive manner is important. By fostering positive relationships, you contribute to a respectful and welcoming school environment where students feel valued and supported.
- Reporting and Documentation: Accurate reporting of incidents, observations, and concerns is crucial. You will be responsible for documenting any incidents, completing incident reports, and providing relevant information for further investigations or follow-up actions.
