ASL 1 Foundation 8th-11th grade

Through this 8 week course each student will begin building a strong foundation of understanding and learning the basics for American Sign Language. At the end of the first 8 weeks each student will be able to finger spell the alphabet, numbers 1-50, days of the week, seasons, & be able to ask for help.

We will focus on communicating basic needs and asking for every day items. Each student by the end should be able to:

• Introduce themselves by age, name, and where they live
• Able to ask for an item or help
• Be able to express how they are feeling
• Be able to state what day of the week it is and what the weather is like
• Be able to sign A-Z and 1-50 without hesitating
• Be able to understand fingerspelled basic words
