Cookie Decorating (6th-12th Grade) (1/2 Credit) – 1 Semester Course, 12 Weeks
This is an introductory class to cookie decorating with Royal Icing. Students will learn about: ingredients/recipes, how to prepare various icing consistencies and their uses, how to outline & flood a cookie, the skills & techniques and tips & tricks of the trade. Each week students will decorate 6 cookies of various themes with expanding skill sets. By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in cookie decorating and be well on their way to creating their very own custom cookies. Or perhaps be inspired to launch their own Cottage Food Bakery, make amazing cookies for family celebrations, or participate in a local farmers market!
**Allergy Note:Â Students will be handling products containing dairy, eggs, wheat, food dyes, or that may have been processed in a facility with nuts.
- Homework:Â Will consist of finishing cookies at home (if needed). Practice skills learned in class at will.
- All supplies for in-classroom activities will be provided, included pre-baked cookies and pre-made basic icing. Â
- On the first day of class, a supply kit will be provided for students.
- Your student will be responsible for bringing the supply kit to co-op every week.
