What if you had to manage your own money today? In this interactive, ½ credit class, students don’t just learn about budgeting—they experience it through a life simulation where they’ll choose a career, rent an apartment, buy a car, get married, invest, and even plan for retirement. They’ll also get an extra dose of real life with some surprise financial curve balls!

Each week we will watch a short lesson on that week’s topic, make personal choices for “future” us, and discuss how different choices affect each other’s financial outcomes and if our dream lifestyles actually fit our paychecks.

Requirements:
• Completion of at least Pre-Algebra
• Course workbook: Beyond Personal Finance (provided)
• Access to a computer to check Blackboard and view videos if miss class
• Basic calculator
• Pen, pencil, and/or highlighter for note taking

Students should expect approximately 30-60 minutes of work outside of class time each week, which may include:
• Completing simulation activities if not finished in class
• Reviewing lesson materials
• Short written reflections
• Occasional projects related to budgeting or financial planning
