Math-U-See: Zeta (5th-8th) (Fall)

Math-U-See Zeta: Decimals & Percents is a text-based, mastery-based curriculum that incorporates manipulatives to visualize math concepts. The best way to understand the curriculum sequence and topic coverage is to visit the Math-U-See site, but Zeta will best suit late elementary or early middle school age students. Sequentially, Pre-Algebra follows.

For those unfamiliar with Math-U-See, there are multiple items suggested for each level including: an instructional DVD, student workbook, test book, manipulative kit, and instruction manual. However, for this course, the co-op classes are intended to replace the DVD lessons, the student workbook and test book will be purchased with the registration fee, and the manipulative kit and instruction manual are optional.

Students will be expected to complete three assignments throughout the week. Each class we will cover questions on the previously completed homework, introduce the new topic, incorporate manipulatives as necessary, and cover the application and enrichment exercises as time allows. We will also take two in-class tests per semester.

Homework: 3 assignments/week (~1.5 hrs)
