Join Runner Rabbit and me as we take the year to explore 7 of the most iconic National Parks using Scott and Jerri Maddox’s The All Seven Collection of the Runner Rabbit “Character Adventure Series.”
We will explore these great parks, alongside Runner Rabbit and his friend, Mr. Crow, discovering amazing animals who teach him character traits. Parks we will be learning about: Yellowstone NP, Glacier NP, Sequoia NP, Grand Canyon NP, Everglades NP, Arcadia NP, and Great Smoky Mountains NP. Sttudents will earn colorful Character Jewels with Runner, while also learning amazing facts about these awesome parks.
The first three weeks we will begin with discovering what a National Park is and how they came to be. Who was the first president to set up a National Park? We will talk about what a character trait is and how we can learn to use these traits in our everyday lives. We will also swear in as Junior Rangers to our great National Parks and any time a national park offers a virtual program, we will be doing it and earning a badge.
Your child will learn a little geography, history, science, vocabulary, and character traits along the way. We will talk about each park for 3 weeks. Week one (of each unit) will be an introduction of the park – its history, where it is located, and other fun facts about the park. The second week we will read from Runner Rabbit’s collection and do activities from the workbook. The third week we will explore character traits and learn about Runner Rabbit’s trail of character development.
Your child will go home (at the end of the year) with an adventure bag of goodies that I will be introducing, such as: a key chain with Runner Rabbit.
