HS Spanish 2 (Part 1) (Fall)

This is a full-year, two-semester course that earns 1 full high school credit (½ credit per semester), fully satisfying foreign language graduation requirements.

Prerequisites & Readiness

• Students must have successfully completed HS Spanish I (or equivalent preparation) and demonstrate confident mastery of the concepts and vocabulary from chapters 1–23 of the acclaimed textbook Madrigal’s Magic Key to Spanish: A Creative and Proven Approach by Margarita Madrigal.

Course Highlights
HS Spanish II continues the engaging journey begun in HS Spanish I, using the same beloved textbook praised for its clear, intuitive, and remarkably effective method that makes Spanish grammar logical, approachable, and even enjoyable—no rote memorization or dull drills required!
We dive into chapters 24–45 (split across fall and spring semesters), moving at an approximate pace of one chapter per week. Building directly on last year’s foundation, you’ll master exciting and practical topics including:
– Advanced present-tense structures and plurals
– Converting verbs into nouns
– Present perfect tense
– Irregular and stem-changing verbs
– Possessive pronouns
– Forming commands (¡imperativos!)
– Irregular past participles
– And many more essential tools for real communication

Classes are dynamic and highly interactive, prioritizing spoken Spanish! Expect plenty of conversation practice, pronunciation coaching, concept clarification, group activities, and fun Spanish-language games when time allows. You’ll actively build and apply your reading, writing, listening, and—most importantly—speaking skills every session.

The flipped-classroom model works beautifully here: prepare at home by reading the assigned chapter and completing homework, then come to class ready to put it all into lively, real-world practice.
