Tales & Treasures: Stories, Crafts & Creativity (Middle School)
In this joyful, hands-on class, students will step into the enchanting world of fairy tales, fables, and inspiring saint stories. Each week we will gather to actively listen as a beautiful, age-appropriate tale is read aloud — full of wonder, moral lessons, courage, and hope. Then, students will bring the story to life through a creative craft project designed to capture its heart.
We will explore legendary stories such as, “Saint George and the Dragon” as well darker fables like the Grimms Fairy Tales, and epic adventures found in “Arabian Nights”. Students will explore the themes and characters, and each craft project will connect directly to the story we just heard. We might create our own flying dragon, make a sparkling crown for a princess, design a shield of a brave knight, or paint a scene from the tale.
Students are expected to listen attentively during story time and to approach the art activity with an open heart and plenty of grace — perfection is never the goal; joyful participation and creativity are!
